Currently working on a lengthy blog post about how my beautiful, blended family came to be but until then let me introduce you (for those of you who don’t know) to my husband and our four greatest accomplishments. I hope you don’t mind a little bragging!

Left to right …

Chy (Rome) – His real name is Chyrome, to us (family) he’s Chy, to his football family and friends he’s Rome. Chy is my step-son, however, he’s been all mine since he was 8 ❤ He’s 20 years old now, super smart, and an amazing athlete! I’ve never known anyone who executes school and football with he precision that he does. He’s currently weighing out options as to where he’ll grace his next field, but until then he’ll continue working hard at college and maintaining his 4.0 GPA. Yeah, you read that right, college football AND a 4.0!!! #proudmom ❤

Drue – My first born and probably my biggest headache! Jk, Jk, only because she’s the oldest (21) everything with her has been a first. She’s the one who’s taught me all the lessons and needless to say I’m still learning! No one ever tells you parenting adult children is hard, but it sooooooo is!!! Anyway, my sweet, little Druey, currently a junior at SDSU is studying Journalism and is striving to work in media studies. She currently co-hosts her own radio show on KCR Radio! Which gives me major heart eyes every time I listen. I also want to add that her work ethic is so inspiring! She works hard, pays all her bills including out of state tuition with little help from us all while taking 18 units!! I don’t know many college students who can pull that off, but she does, and with so much grace.  ❤

Reece – The love of my life. I could go on and on about all the reasons I love him so, but I’m gonna keep this short. So, I just want to say this, in our family, he sets the standards high. I might be the one who holds this family together, but he’s the one who leads by example. Because of him our daughters will marry men who love them no less than he does and our sons will make amazing husbands just as he is. Our love for one another runs this family and that’s the one thing I’m most proud of. ❤

Lexie – This girl, my mini me. My freckled faced, brown haired, long legged beauty that keeps me laughing CONSTANTLY when we’re together is currently a Freshman in college for fashion merchandising! She’s (19) and also a manager at Billabong here in San Diego, which is why you see me wearing a lot of their brands 🙂 She, like all my kids is going to do big things. I’ve know this from the time she was a very little girl, that fashion was going to be a huge part of her existence and I’m so excited to see where this journey takes her ❤

Kane – The baby. Kane’s 15 and a Sophomore in high school. This kid’s mind is so creative that I can’t wait to see what his future holds! From filmmaking, photography, fashion, etc. he really has an eye for all things creative and trendsetting. He’s such a mixture of all his older siblings and I can’t think of any other place he would have prospered more. SoCal is definitely where he belongs. ❤

Happy Monday, guys! (although to me it feels like Sunday). Anyway, I’ve been thinking lately about how far I’ve come with my blogging. I remember a few years ago, actually like 7, when I started an Interior Styling blog called Revamped By Me. The blog focused mainly on DIY projects, usually centered around paint since my husband and I own a painting company and I had somewhat of a background in interior styling. Unfortunately, that blog was short lived since I’m a mom of four, business owner, etc and it was a challenge to actually complete a damn project! But of course, getting dressed isn’t. Fashion’s always been my first love and design my second, so I thought why not post about all the things I love with my main focus being fashion and that’s when Live By Ronni was born … and then it wasn’t. This was around 4 years ago and as soon as I bought the website I instantly felt embarrassed. I feared I was going to be judged even though anyone who knows me wouldn’t be surprised by it. Never the less I gave in to my fears and put it on hold for like a whole year 😦 However, throughout that time the ambition never went away. I was always trying to find someone to help me build a website and teach me how to edit photos, eventually I said fuck it, what am I really waiting for? and I figured it out myself! I realized that I was wasting time, not because I needed someone to “teach” me how to do things but because I was worried of what “everyone” would say or think of me. Even up until I moved to San Diego I worried each time I took photos that I would run into someone I know and they would think I was too old, vain, or conceded. I started figuring out quickly that I simply don’t care what others think, I can’t let my insecurities get the best of me, this journey was for me. ❤

Now, don’t get me wrong, I know those people are out there. The one’s I never hear from but I’m sure are reading every post, in some way judging how or what I’m writing and that’s ok, also, none of my business. I guess all I want is to enjoy something that’s truly my own and to inspire others to follow their dreams no matter what others think! Live By Ronni is something from my creative mind and thus far has been an absolute pleasure to work on. ❤

Dream Of Californication.

Forever I had dreamed of spending afternoons like this. Walking by the ocean, smelling the salt, feeling the sun on my face as the breeze whips my hair around. I won’t say I never thought it was possible, because I always knew it was. No matter where I was in life, no matter where I was living, I always longed for California. Having spent my early years of life in Ventura I knew what I was missing out on. Daydreaming of a life I craved, all a long knowing others were taking theirs for granted. There was a fifteen year time span where I didn’t see the ocean and when I finally did, it wasn’t the Pacific. All oceans are wonderous, mysterious, and wild, but it was the Pacific that stole my heart and it wasn’t until I moved here that I finally got it back. ❤

Happy Friday, guys! So, while I was visiting MO last weekend I packed several winter outfits, mostly coats thinking I’d take advantage of the cold weather and finally be able to post some actual winter content for you, well that didn’t happen. I found myself staying warm indoors as much as possible, only freezing my ass off once to take pics, as you might have read in my previous post. So now that I’m back home (San Diego) I’m going to do whatever it takes to still bring you that cold weather content, even if it means wearing a coat and scarf in 75 degree temps 🙂

Basically, everything in the outfit is old (besides the scarf, thanks Jess!) and I love it. The coat I bought on sale at H&M a few years ago, the boots (Timberland) I scored at Goodwill a few weeks ago (for $5.99!)  and the bag is a discontinued Marc by Marc Jacobs bag I also bought at Goodwill! But what I love about this look is that every piece is classic and not necessarily trendy. You’ll always be able to find a long gray coat no matter the decade, as well as brown leather ankle boots and a black crossbody bag. Being stylish doesn’t necessarily mean being trendy and when you take classic, random items from your closet and throw them together, magic happens. You don’t have to have tons of money and carry the newest $2,500 GUCCI bag to have style. Don’t get me wrong, I love those bags too! But labels don’t define the way I dress and they never will. When I wear a label it’s out of pure love for the art of the designer and the brand not the “look what I’m wearing, look how much money I have” shit (puke). Anything I buy that’s considered expensive has been strategically planned, probably researched, contemplated, and saved for! I have four kids, 3 in college, I don’t know how to live any other way! Basically, the moral of this rambled on story is to be yourself when dressing yourself! Style comes in all forms whether you’re a Label Lover or a Goodwill Shopper or Both (like me), dress for YOU, not for others ❤

P.S. Because some of these items are older and I can’t find exact links for them, I’ve attach dupes for your shopping needs ❤

Finally made it to Missouri for our first trip of the New Year and I’ve been freezing my ass off from the moment I stepped off the plane! It’s no joke here. I know other areas in the country are colder but damn, San Diego has softened me! Usually we come for work but this trip was all about family and friends, hence my abrupt absence from LBR and social media. Thanks to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to visit with us. Your love and effort means the world to me and I feel so special knowing I clearly mean something to you 🙂 With that being said, I am super happy to be heading home (to San Diego) to hear the waves crashing, feel the sun on my face, and smell the salt in the air ❤ Until next time Missouri!!

Hello, 2018.

Well, hello 2018! I know I’m a day late into the new year however, Jan 1st was NOT good to me, not good at all.  I’m unsure if the three mimosa’s I had within a 4 1/2 hour time span really did me in or if the impeccable timing of flu season that hit me right at 10 p.m. but unfortunately, I rang the new year in with my head in a trashcan fighting a volatile puking sesh. I laid around all day yesterday feeling like absolute garbage and finally managed to get a descent nights sleep! Nevertheless, I woke up this morning feeling refreshed and back to my normal self, ready to conquer the new year!

As I mentioned last week in one of my instagram posts, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking. As most people begin a new year, we try to focus on what works in our life and what doesn’t. I’ve been doing this blogging thing now for almost three years, starting very slowly and then maintaining that slowness for the first year and a half. It wasn’t until my family and I moved to San Diego before I started taking it more serious and focusing on collaborations and such. 2017 was good to me. I’ve met some really great people, worked with some brands I’ve admired for years, and also, some new brands I had the privilege of helping market their products! For me, these were all accomplishments I had wanted to achieve since the beginning, and for that, I am grateful. I think what I’ve been missing lately in my blogging and social media is authenticity. When I first started blogging I looked at it as a way for me to express who am and what I love, which is fashion, but, it’s become apparent to me that there’s so much more to my life than what outfit I’ve put on that day for a quick photo shoot. Many of you who follow me on social media don’t really know my story, my age, or the fact that I have four amazing kids! I’ve been a mother for twenty-one years and have always focused the majority of my attention on my kids. Doing anything and everything possible to help them accomplish their dreams, and somewhere along the way, I lost myself. Live By Ronni was meant to be my way of dedicating just one small thing to me but in the midst of it all I’ve realized that who I really am is a wife, a mother, a business owner, a woman with not only a sense of style but also a voice. More often than not, I read and follow bloggers who are in their twenties or maybe early thirties who have or have just given birth to adorable babies they can dress up and blog about all the cute things they do and wear. All their milestones are documented for us to have heart eyes over because, I mean, who doesn’t love a picture of a cute baby, but honestly, it’s become hard to relate. Where are the women like me? The young mother’s from the nineties? The moms who maybe made the choice to settle for a job to make ends meet and provide for a family and is now finally getting their stride back? The moms who have sacrificed their dreams in hopes to help their children achieve theirs? Are we a rare breed? Is there anyone out there like me? … I don’t know, but I guess we’ll see …

This year the game has changed and instead of staying in my comfort zone of minimal writing of blog posts and random outfit descriptions, Live By Ronni is going to be a true reflection of the name itself, which is my life, all of it. All the ups and downs of raising older children (trust me, it’s far harder than you think), lots of traveling, lots of love, and of course doing it all in style!

So, here’s to the New Year and to inspiring people like me, who may have lost their way for a while … welcome the fuck back. Cheers!
