Today feels sad. Not one, but two … in one week. The heaviness that lingers in the knowing and unknowing of what one is going through, their minds in their darkest moments is now front and center and can no longer be ignored.  People of success can be tortured too and if any lesson is learned from the passings of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain and many others, is that depression does not discriminate. I have friends and family who I watch suffer at the thought of giving into a life they no longer want and as I sit back and painfully watch them self destruct I wonder when I’ll get that phone call. As human beings filled with love it’s our duty to keep a watchful eye, to listen, and let the people who matter to us, not go a day without them knowing how much they’re loved and appreciated. I know my eyes are now wide open, as well as my heart. ❤

After much contemplating I decided to post the above pictures with this message I’m trying to send out. As I was speaking with my daughter yesterday and we were talking about the unfortunate passing of Kate Spade it was mentioned how without even realizing, we too were depressed before we moved to San Diego. Obviously, it wasn’t as severe, but it’s like you don’t even realize until you take yourself out of the situation your in and you notice your heart feels enlightened and full. For me, I needed the ocean. I needed a different way of life, a change, diversity, culture. I feel grateful because I have a family who was feeling the same way, who each supported one another to make the move and not fear change. So many others feel stuck in their lives and over time that can lead to depression. I speak from experience when I say stop, take a deep breath, and talk to someone. It’s ok to feel however you are, feel hard, dig deep … just don’t get stuck there. ❤

Lifestyling With Music.

One of the many amazing qualities about my beardo is his diversity and love for music. Because we share the same tastes it’s one of the many reasons I fell in love with him. One of the qualities he loves about me is my ability to put together a home and create spaces that feel comfortable and really reflect our lifestyle. Decorating takes time, I like for my spaces to look like they came together over time rather than them looking like I hand picked everything off a showroom floor. Somehow, I manage to style a room with what I already have in my home by just rearranging and/or restyling several vignettes around the house. I also love the look of a blank space and then adding a major statement piece, in this case it’s our new rug! ❤

Honestly, the area rug was a huge part of transitioning our simple style to an eclectic, bohemian, mid century modern vibe. To me, that is how I always imagined living in California! It was important for me to include and display Reece’s record collection as it really shows who we are as a family, a couple, and also individuals. The collection is small but satisfying as it includes all the greats! The Cars, GNR, Rod Stewart, Al Green, Kanye, Michael Jackson, Prince, Tom Petty, etc …. The outcome of this room is really turning out beautifully and as promised in a previous post, I’ll continue to share the process along the way ❤

Before I finish this post I want to take a moment to acknowledge the beautiful photography and tons of kissing you’re seeing above! When Sarah Zimmerman sends you a message saying lets shoot in your house the following day, you immediately drop everything and get your shit together! She’s amazing and we were honored to have spent the day with her shooting at the beginning of the week! She’s gracious and lovely and her work speaks volumes in the sense of her abilities to capture real love in still motion. You’ll be seeing a lot of her work in my future posts as I’m simply obsessed with everything she does. To view more of her work you can visit her instagram HERE and to book her services, you can do so by clicking HERE ❤

So, clearly I have an obsession with palms trees and these earrings are no exception! I love, love, love them! I’m always down for a statement piece and a gold palm tree hanging from my ear definitely doesn’t disappoint lol I bought these cuties at Urban Outfitters and unfortunately they’re suddenly no longer available (sigh) BUT I have found several other options of you’re into the same ear bling I am. ❤

So yesterday was fun! The weather was gorgeous and my beardo and I was a bit antsy to get out of the house for a little day adventure. A lot of times we stay in our charming little beach town, ride our cruisers to the local breweries, and make friends with everyone we meet, but yesterday, we decided to go north. Starting in Ecinitas and then making our way down to Solana Beach we enjoyed an amazing lunch at The Bier Garden of Encinitas (highly recommend!) and then stopped next door at Culture Brewering Co. I so love relaxing days like this when you can sit outside, enjoy the sun, the people, and of course a craft beer! We ended our little adventure in Solana Beach at The Pizza Port. Only had a beer but the pizza looked and smelled amazing! It’s definitely on our list to revisit! ❤

I wanna talk a little bit about this outfit and well, I guess about how much I’m in love with everything about it! First of all, this hat is my everything right now. I fucking love it and it goes with literally everything I own. Lack of Color knows what they’re doing when it comes to style! I pretty much have every hat from their online store saved to my Mac for future purchasing! Needless to say you’ll be seeing me in this hat a lot, as well as these jeans ….

These aren’t just any jeans, these are dad jeans. MY dad’s jeans. They’re the real deal with  a real wallet imprint and real holes in the legs. They haven’t been “repurposed” or “destroyed” for selling. These jeans represent hours upon hours and days upon days, even years of hard work! I always hold a sentimental value to certain clothing items in my closet. Some hold memories of first meetings or nights out with girlfriends or maybe an outfit from a birthday where I felt absolutely fabulous. Like those pieces, my dad jeans also hold a special place in my heart and they will always hold memories of him ❤

Billabong has the most amazing, cozy sweaters, am I right? As soon as I saw this hot pink turtleneck I knew it was only a matter as to which size I needed! I could instantly think of a million different ways to style it, so here’s one and if you don’t hear from me for a while it’s because I’m working on 999,999 more ways to wear it ❤

Happy Hump Day, friends!! I decided to take advantage of this warmer weather to share this dress I snagged on sale at Urban outfitters. I fell in love with it in the spring but my size wasn’t in stock and while usually I’ll then order it online, another dress quickly caught my attention and sadly this little number was forgotten 😦 Then the other day I was browsing through the UO website and there it was, for $19.99!!! Clearly it was meant to be and so I purchased … and now I’m sharing not only a similar dress but also the link to browse ALL their dresses on sale here . ❤
