Happy Hump Day, guys! In case you don’t follow me on Instagram and have missed my instastories you may not know that I’m planning a weekend getaway with my youngest daughter Lexie, sadly Drue can’t make it 😦 Anyway, this will be our first time going and we’re excited to explore all PS has to offer. ❤

When I think of Palm Springs I think of retro glam, Mid Century Modern EVERYTHING and tons of cute, Instagramable spots! My dream come true!!! I also imagine most everything being pink and green lol so I guess that’s what I had on my mind today when doing this quick little shoot! To say I’m excited is an understatement and to be able to share the experience with non other than my super fashionable partner in crime makes this trip all the more memorable! I’m counting down the days and you should be too! You can follow along on my instastories on instagram beginning Friyay and I’ll do my best to post to FB and Twitter too! You can click each of those links at the bottom of this post. ❤

Hello, hello! Tuesday always feels like Monday to me due to my Beardo being off work on Mondays. We typically spend that day as if it were Sunday with the bonus that our kids are in school and we actually have the day all to ourselves! So yesterday, my Beardo said to me “this may sound weird, but I feel the need to go to the beach and walk around.” lol are you joking me? That’s like my favorite thing to do! No one understands the calling of the ocean more than me! Sometimes I just crave the salty smell. And so that’s what we did ❤

So yesterday was fun! The weather was gorgeous and my beardo and I was a bit antsy to get out of the house for a little day adventure. A lot of times we stay in our charming little beach town, ride our cruisers to the local breweries, and make friends with everyone we meet, but yesterday, we decided to go north. Starting in Ecinitas and then making our way down to Solana Beach we enjoyed an amazing lunch at The Bier Garden of Encinitas (highly recommend!) and then stopped next door at Culture Brewering Co. I so love relaxing days like this when you can sit outside, enjoy the sun, the people, and of course a craft beer! We ended our little adventure in Solana Beach at The Pizza Port. Only had a beer but the pizza looked and smelled amazing! It’s definitely on our list to revisit! ❤

I wanna talk a little bit about this outfit and well, I guess about how much I’m in love with everything about it! First of all, this hat is my everything right now. I fucking love it and it goes with literally everything I own. Lack of Color knows what they’re doing when it comes to style! I pretty much have every hat from their online store saved to my Mac for future purchasing! Needless to say you’ll be seeing me in this hat a lot, as well as these jeans ….

These aren’t just any jeans, these are dad jeans. MY dad’s jeans. They’re the real deal with  a real wallet imprint and real holes in the legs. They haven’t been “repurposed” or “destroyed” for selling. These jeans represent hours upon hours and days upon days, even years of hard work! I always hold a sentimental value to certain clothing items in my closet. Some hold memories of first meetings or nights out with girlfriends or maybe an outfit from a birthday where I felt absolutely fabulous. Like those pieces, my dad jeans also hold a special place in my heart and they will always hold memories of him ❤

Billabong has the most amazing, cozy sweaters, am I right? As soon as I saw this hot pink turtleneck I knew it was only a matter as to which size I needed! I could instantly think of a million different ways to style it, so here’s one and if you don’t hear from me for a while it’s because I’m working on 999,999 more ways to wear it ❤

Currently working on a lengthy blog post about how my beautiful, blended family came to be but until then let me introduce you (for those of you who don’t know) to my husband and our four greatest accomplishments. I hope you don’t mind a little bragging!

Left to right …

Chy (Rome) – His real name is Chyrome, to us (family) he’s Chy, to his football family and friends he’s Rome. Chy is my step-son, however, he’s been all mine since he was 8 ❤ He’s 20 years old now, super smart, and an amazing athlete! I’ve never known anyone who executes school and football with he precision that he does. He’s currently weighing out options as to where he’ll grace his next field, but until then he’ll continue working hard at college and maintaining his 4.0 GPA. Yeah, you read that right, college football AND a 4.0!!! #proudmom ❤

Drue – My first born and probably my biggest headache! Jk, Jk, only because she’s the oldest (21) everything with her has been a first. She’s the one who’s taught me all the lessons and needless to say I’m still learning! No one ever tells you parenting adult children is hard, but it sooooooo is!!! Anyway, my sweet, little Druey, currently a junior at SDSU is studying Journalism and is striving to work in media studies. She currently co-hosts her own radio show on KCR Radio! Which gives me major heart eyes every time I listen. I also want to add that her work ethic is so inspiring! She works hard, pays all her bills including out of state tuition with little help from us all while taking 18 units!! I don’t know many college students who can pull that off, but she does, and with so much grace.  ❤

Reece – The love of my life. I could go on and on about all the reasons I love him so, but I’m gonna keep this short. So, I just want to say this, in our family, he sets the standards high. I might be the one who holds this family together, but he’s the one who leads by example. Because of him our daughters will marry men who love them no less than he does and our sons will make amazing husbands just as he is. Our love for one another runs this family and that’s the one thing I’m most proud of. ❤

Lexie – This girl, my mini me. My freckled faced, brown haired, long legged beauty that keeps me laughing CONSTANTLY when we’re together is currently a Freshman in college for fashion merchandising! She’s (19) and also a manager at Billabong here in San Diego, which is why you see me wearing a lot of their brands 🙂 She, like all my kids is going to do big things. I’ve know this from the time she was a very little girl, that fashion was going to be a huge part of her existence and I’m so excited to see where this journey takes her ❤

Kane – The baby. Kane’s 15 and a Sophomore in high school. This kid’s mind is so creative that I can’t wait to see what his future holds! From filmmaking, photography, fashion, etc. he really has an eye for all things creative and trendsetting. He’s such a mixture of all his older siblings and I can’t think of any other place he would have prospered more. SoCal is definitely where he belongs. ❤

Hello, 2018.

Well, hello 2018! I know I’m a day late into the new year however, Jan 1st was NOT good to me, not good at all.  I’m unsure if the three mimosa’s I had within a 4 1/2 hour time span really did me in or if the impeccable timing of flu season that hit me right at 10 p.m. but unfortunately, I rang the new year in with my head in a trashcan fighting a volatile puking sesh. I laid around all day yesterday feeling like absolute garbage and finally managed to get a descent nights sleep! Nevertheless, I woke up this morning feeling refreshed and back to my normal self, ready to conquer the new year!

As I mentioned last week in one of my instagram posts, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking. As most people begin a new year, we try to focus on what works in our life and what doesn’t. I’ve been doing this blogging thing now for almost three years, starting very slowly and then maintaining that slowness for the first year and a half. It wasn’t until my family and I moved to San Diego before I started taking it more serious and focusing on collaborations and such. 2017 was good to me. I’ve met some really great people, worked with some brands I’ve admired for years, and also, some new brands I had the privilege of helping market their products! For me, these were all accomplishments I had wanted to achieve since the beginning, and for that, I am grateful. I think what I’ve been missing lately in my blogging and social media is authenticity. When I first started blogging I looked at it as a way for me to express who am and what I love, which is fashion, but, it’s become apparent to me that there’s so much more to my life than what outfit I’ve put on that day for a quick photo shoot. Many of you who follow me on social media don’t really know my story, my age, or the fact that I have four amazing kids! I’ve been a mother for twenty-one years and have always focused the majority of my attention on my kids. Doing anything and everything possible to help them accomplish their dreams, and somewhere along the way, I lost myself. Live By Ronni was meant to be my way of dedicating just one small thing to me but in the midst of it all I’ve realized that who I really am is a wife, a mother, a business owner, a woman with not only a sense of style but also a voice. More often than not, I read and follow bloggers who are in their twenties or maybe early thirties who have or have just given birth to adorable babies they can dress up and blog about all the cute things they do and wear. All their milestones are documented for us to have heart eyes over because, I mean, who doesn’t love a picture of a cute baby, but honestly, it’s become hard to relate. Where are the women like me? The young mother’s from the nineties? The moms who maybe made the choice to settle for a job to make ends meet and provide for a family and is now finally getting their stride back? The moms who have sacrificed their dreams in hopes to help their children achieve theirs? Are we a rare breed? Is there anyone out there like me? … I don’t know, but I guess we’ll see …

This year the game has changed and instead of staying in my comfort zone of minimal writing of blog posts and random outfit descriptions, Live By Ronni is going to be a true reflection of the name itself, which is my life, all of it. All the ups and downs of raising older children (trust me, it’s far harder than you think), lots of traveling, lots of love, and of course doing it all in style!

So, here’s to the New Year and to inspiring people like me, who may have lost their way for a while … welcome the fuck back. Cheers!

Daannngggg, San Diego!! A hundred degrees … I’m not even mad about it. It is a little hard to show off fall fashion and in that way it’s not the most ideal temps but I’ll take it over cold and rainy any day! We live less than a mile from the beach, so our house doesn’t have air-conditioning because it’s unusual for it to get this hot. The ocean breeze typically keeps it nice around here but on a day like today, all you can do is stay as close to the water as possible! So I finished my workout, emails, etc and headed to the beach! What’s everyone else doing to stay cool? Let’s chat about it ❤
