One of the many amazing qualities about my beardo is his diversity and love for music. Because we share the same tastes it’s one of the many reasons I fell in love with him. One of the qualities he loves about me is my ability to put together a home and create spaces that feel comfortable and really reflect our lifestyle. Decorating takes time, I like for my spaces to look like they came together over time rather than them looking like I hand picked everything off a showroom floor. Somehow, I manage to style a room with what I already have in my home by just rearranging and/or restyling several vignettes around the house. I also love the look of a blank space and then adding a major statement piece, in this case it’s our new rug! ❤

Honestly, the area rug was a huge part of transitioning our simple style to an eclectic, bohemian, mid century modern vibe. To me, that is how I always imagined living in California! It was important for me to include and display Reece’s record collection as it really shows who we are as a family, a couple, and also individuals. The collection is small but satisfying as it includes all the greats! The Cars, GNR, Rod Stewart, Al Green, Kanye, Michael Jackson, Prince, Tom Petty, etc …. The outcome of this room is really turning out beautifully and as promised in a previous post, I’ll continue to share the process along the way ❤

Before I finish this post I want to take a moment to acknowledge the beautiful photography and tons of kissing you’re seeing above! When Sarah Zimmerman sends you a message saying lets shoot in your house the following day, you immediately drop everything and get your shit together! She’s amazing and we were honored to have spent the day with her shooting at the beginning of the week! She’s gracious and lovely and her work speaks volumes in the sense of her abilities to capture real love in still motion. You’ll be seeing a lot of her work in my future posts as I’m simply obsessed with everything she does. Winter Wardrobe Transitioning Tips.

Hey, guys! So spring is right around the corner and if you’re anything like me you’ve already started rummaging through your closet pulling your favorite winter pieces in hopes of styling them for spring. Oh you haven’t? Ok, well let me give you a few tips for doing just that!

First of all, keep your pants on! I love how easily a fall/winter pant can transition to warmer months simply by changing your shoes. In the fall I wore these pants (above) with an oxford. In the winter I wore them with booties. For the spring I’ll wear them with a short heel (like above) and in the summer I’ll wear them with a t-shirt and flip-flops. ❤

Second, sweaters! Don’t puttem’ away yet! Especially here on the west coast when the temps drop in the evenings or when the sun disappears behind the clouds, you’ll definitely want something to throw on. It’s totally acceptable to wear big comfy sweaters with cute denim cutoffs! Just one of the many reasons I love living in San Diego. ❤

Third, scarves! I know sounds a little crazy and obviously not all scarves will work but a lot will! Let me give you a couple of examples: When the weather starts warming up and I feel as though I can wear a tank top during the sunny days a lot of times I like to keep a scarf in my bag so I can drape it over my shoulders like a shawl. Much easier to put on and take off and also easier than a sweater or jacket to stash in a purse with the suns out to play. Also I love using my smaller, thinner, scarves as a head wrap! Scarves are literally one of the most versatile accessories you can own, don’t be afraid to get creative! ❤

Fourth, mix it up! Start pairing those flirty, floral spring dresses with your fall / winter jackets. I love wearing a floral, whimsy, bohemian style dress and then draping a leather moto jacket or a denim jacket over my shoulders! It’s literally the best way to start introducing your spring wardrobe into these sometimesy , weird weather temps!

My last tip of this post is to be yourself! You’re in charge of who you are and what you wear! Which basically means that the one major rule to transitioning your fall / winter wardrobe to spring / summer months is, there are no rules! Take it from a person who loves the “wtf is she wearing moments”, always be yourself ❤

Just a quick post showing a little love for my vintage Moschino Fanny Pack! I gifted this cutie to myself for my last birthday and have been rocking it every chance I get! I was around when fanny packs were super in back in the late 80’s, early 90’s. I loved them then and I love them now! This particular one was found on eBay, where I find the majority of my vintage items however, you can usually find a great assortment of designer fanny packs on consignment sites such as Tradsey and The Real Real! Check out the links below to view everything I’m wearing ❤

One morning she woke up different. Done with trying to figure out who was with her, against her, or walking down the middle because they didn’t have the guts to pick a side. She was done with anything that didn’t bring her peace. She realized opinions were a dime a dozen, validation was for parking, and loyalty wasn’t a word, but a lifestyle. It was on this day her life changed. Not for a man, or a job, but because she realized life is way too short to leave the key to your happiness in someone else’s pocket.   – unknown

The top, a v-neck, wrap top I found at Target the other day and a must in everyone’s wardrobe! The skirt, a thrift store find that I bought for nearly nothing. The flippy flops, purchased at Forever 21 for $9. The bag, I found on ebay! I’ve been in love with the Cult Gaia bag for about a year now. I discovered it when it hadn’t really turned into a “thing” yet and every blogger wasn’t carrying one. I hesitated on buying and before I knew it there was a six month waiting list! So as usual, when I can’t find what I’m looking for I turn to my trusty eBay and sure enough I found this amazing, original, 70’s Vintage Bamboo Bag! Just like the Cult Gaia only vintage, and for me, vintage is always better ❤
